WHAT TYPE OF DRILL BIT DID YOU USE TO DRILL IN JAW OF VICE GRIPS FOR REMOVAL OF PINS IN HOOD FASTENERS. THE JAWS ARE HARDENED. I JUST TRIED A COBALT BIT IN DRILL PRESS, AM NOT HAVING MUCH LUCK.
THANKS.....

JERRY, I didn't have any problem drilling mine. I used an old set of grips that I was using as a welding clamp. Maybe I annealed it from the many heating & cooling cycles. If they are really hard you might just have to grind a slot in yours with a grinder.

Do you or anyone know where you can get new hood fasteners for Dubuque tractors? Correct Connection does not have them.

Thanks, CPeter

CPeter, I'm not sure as of today, but I got some from Deere dealer last year for my 430. They were pricey but you could get everything, the fastener with pin that you had to put in and also the receptacle that you screw pin in too. I probably am not even close on my spelling but I thought they were called haysuze fasteners.

Dzus fasteners. Hot rodders use them some and perhaps Summit racing has them. Maybe used on some small aircraft also.

CPeter, Deere had then a while ago [can't say for sure if they still do] for around $7.00 apiece.

Thanks, I guess the old saying that when all else fails, try you John Deere Dealer is true.
