This is my first attempt at posting pictures, so hopefully this will work.

This photo should be of an R with an odd precleaner stack. There is also a picture of one on an 80 in the photo section. Does anybody know where these came from? This has got to be aftermarket as I cannot find anything like it in any of the Deere parts catalogs.

I guess if you had one of these you could put a 1/64 scale Farmall in the mason jar like the IHC/Farmall guys do. It seems that every show that I go to somebody has an M with a little Deere in the mason jar. Farmall people sure are a clever lot!

Anyway, I just wondered who might have manufactured this contraption and what advantages it might have provided.

720Deere,
I don't know who manufactured them but they must have been pretty popular, especially in this area as I have an R with one and have seen several others, even one at a JD 2-cylinder show with a 1/64 model farmall in the jar; pretty cute. These came out prior to the plastic bowl type of pre-cleaner that was available on the 20/30 series 2-cylinders, and collected the larger particals of dirt and other trash that entered the air cleaner, before they could get to the oil bath, thus prolonging the cleaning interval of the oil bath air cleaner, as I see it. I might know where there is one located if you are interested.

Lets try the picture thing again. There are pictures of both an 80 and a R with this stack in the photo section.

Stanley,

I can't say for 100% sure, but I think that they are 18.4x34 on 18" or 20" rim. That R is unbelievable. This guy only pulls the tractor, no farm work. This tractor weighted down to 10000 lbs is almost unstoppable. The club only pulls a 160' track and at about 90' the R starts to produce more smoke than any steam locomotive I have ever seen. I don't know what he has done to it, but I would imagine that it has much more power than the pto would ever handle on the dyno. He has another R that is a little less bullish, but still very strong.
