My 3140 with a high/low lever on the left slowly decided not to respond to high. So she is stuck in low and still working hard but just getting from job to job more slowly.

Having recently seen the machine split in half to fix the clutch at great expense I am just wondering whether I should put up with the lack of speed unless of course anybody out there thinks that the problem described could possible be fixed more easily.

kind regards to you all

Fred, The reason your tractor has low side only is that the two speed on the low side is mechanically engaged, meaning it does not require transmission oil pressure to hold it engaged. System is designed to shift itself to the low side to protect the high clutch from slipping when there is not enough oil pressure in transmission system to keep it engaged. Long story short is you have low transmission pressure for some unknown reason. Probably an internal leak. Best to have someone check out why as if leaking internally is bad enough it will eventually effect your hydraulics and transmission lube functions. Sorry to rain on your parade. Good Luck, Dave W.
