Find a low hours 2355 or 2555 built in Mannheim Germany instead of the POS 5000 series.

This series started production in '92 as the 5200, 5300, 5400. They are simple, very reliable tractors. They have migrated over the years into the "10" series and now the "20" series. Four cylinder engines have been included in the higher powered models. Cabs have been added, getting better with time. Other "sophistication" and complexities have been made available on the tractors too. Originally the engines were Deere design and manufacture in Saran, France. Now the engines, though still Deere design and manufacture, are from Torreon, Mexico. The drivetrains are Yanmar design from Japan. The tractors are assembled in Augusta, GA. they have enjoyed a very good reliability reputation, but except for the engine, they really are not related to the old Deere 20 series utilities tractors made in Mannheim and Dubuque.

I think you'll find that if Deere and New Holland tractors are of the same HP, have the same specifications, tire sizes, optional equipment, etc., you will indeed find that their list prices are very close to the same. Now, what the dealer is willing to sell it for may be a different story, but horse trading is always fun!
