John, as John T said they really should be replaced in a matched set. ~I have just replaced single gears before without a problem but if you go the single gear route be sure to use a small grinder & remove any gear tooth wear high spots & flashing on the tooth ends & don't set the backlash too tight. They will probably howl some for a while but will usually calm down after a break-in period.
~You shouldn't have a hard time finding a gear for that "B" as most tractor scrap yards should have one..... .

Dear John n, You may want to consider buying BOTH a matched set of governor PLUS fan shat bevel gears (even if its used, still a matched set off the same tractor) because if they are badly mis matched, you will have a noisy whiny governor. The shim gasket thicknesses both under the governors bearing end cap and the fan shaft mounting hub is how you set the backlash, heel and mesh of the 2 gears to avoid whineeeee eeeee. They need to be set right and its far better of they are a matched set. Good Luck, Ol John T
