I have a 1956 all green 420 & am wanting to know the original seat color & front tire size. It has 15" rims now. Thanks

For the all-green 1956 model 420 tractors, black seats were the only color offered. 1957-58 models could be either black or yellow, up to the buyer, as seat color was a "specify" option

Wayne in Tn. is right about the multiple tire sizes and options. All the old brochures I have show only black seats on the all-green 420's, and the yellow seats appear in the brochures for the green and yellow 420's ('57 models, I think). Also, a J.R. Hobbs article in GM in April 1993 states that black seats were regular equipment with yellow being a no-extra-cost option on the '57 and '58 models.

Can't speak from experience, however, as the 420's were a little after my time on the farm.

Richard, the original tractors came with 15 inch or 16 inch available. You don't say which model you have, but the S T U V & W could have had either 15 or 16 inch wheels. Also the H and U could have had 6.50 X 16 or 7.50 X 16 The most common configuration that I see, is the tricycle fronts with 500 X 15 inch and the wide fronts with 650 X 16 inch
As to seats, both black and yellow were available for the 420-430
