Has anyone had any problems when using an aftermarket 3-point on their tractor? I've got a 720LP without the 3-point arms (I do have the rockshaft arms, just nothing else) and I was wondering about aftermarket kits. It seems that most of them attach only to the drawbar bracket that's bolted to the bottom of the tractor. But original John Deere 3-point elephant ears bolt to both the drawbar bracket AND to two studs on the sides of the tractor. It seems that this would be much stronger and able to handle heavier loads.

I don't plan on lifting anything really heavy, but you never know and I don't want to damage the tractor. 'Cause parts are kinda expensive, you know. :-) But the cost difference between factory and aftermarket 3-point hitches has gotten huge.

Any comments, anyone???

I'm not familiar with the Saginaw product, but I have a "worksaver" brand three-point on my 60. It's built REALLY beefy and I get quite a few compliments on it. Here's the link:

I'll put in another vote for the Saginaw 3-point hitch. Installed one on my model 50 a few months ago. Very well designed.

I own a Saginaw County Tractor Sales 3-point hitch. The company is located in New Lothrup Michigan. The hitch is exactly as you want. Bolts from the drawbar to the axle. Comes with stabilizer bars and top link. The end balls are dual catagory also. Made to take abuse. Great hitch for the money.
