Gauge face color on a 60?

I've got a late 60 (s/n 6048041 - year = 1955) and the previous owner has done a "less than complete" rebuild on it. It currently has black face gauges. I was watching one of the old "John Deere Day" videos and they showed white faced gauges on a 60 for 1953.
Is there a way of determining if my era 60 should have white or black faced gauges?

I have a JD 60, serial no. 6004055, which I believe makes it a 1952, but the guy down the road bought it brand new, and now I own it. It has the original gauges and they are black faced. I have a 1953 JD 50 and the gauges are black faced.

I just checked my 2-CYL magazine (JAN-FEB 2000) and it showes a picture taken in Feb. 1953 of a 60 and it has black face guages.
