I know that nobody likes to do unseen over the phone, but Intertec Used Guide lists good from$6120 to $6950, premium from $7590 to $8550.Yes I know that's lowball but that's what dealers use for over the phone appraisals.Few dealers if any would sell them that low.

4000's same as a 4020? they are good tractors a gas 4000 is a rane tractor there are't many of them, there is about 7800 of a 4000's from 70 to 72. there could be less 20 gas tractors all others are disesl. if the tractor you looking at is in good running, no repairs need or has been repair, price could run around 15,000 for good, sometime 9,000 to 5,000.. I have got a disesl 4000 syuc trans. 71..

According to Green Magazine August 1996, there were 256 gas 4000's with synchro-range, 9 with powershift.

that seems pretty low amount produced. why so few, was there problems with designs? I would probably be in competition with collectors than if i was to look at this.

Also, keep in mind that the orignial post here, and the post about 265 being produced refer to gasoline powered tractors, which were really going out of fashion at that time. Total production of 4000's was about 8,000, which is still pretty low.

They were a "runner", not a "lugger", and as was said before, were built to enable farmers to keep their 3020 implements and run in a higher gear. Also, they were pretty stripped versions - only one headlight per side, for example.

they stop building them in 73. due to farmers not buying. they were trying to get farmers to up date their tractor to a 4000 from a 3020. the 4020 cost higher than 4000. a 4000 will pull faster than 3020 on a 4 bottom plow. that time there were't many buying so that's why it's so low.
