John Or Clooney, I just got me a remote cyl for my J D A it has everthing but hoses. The parts book says 88" long,( 7 1/2 ft), is this long enough or would go to 8 ft? Jack in Fla

Jack, that depends on what you are going to use the cylinder on. The difference between 7-1/2' & 8' is negligible & if you are going that long, the 8' won't hurt anything. The problem with long hoses is if the cylinder is kept with the tractor they get in the way of everything. If you are using the factory hose adapters in the rear outlets of the power-trol then you will have proper break-away protection.

Jack, that all depends on the various implements one uses. Plows, disks, pull mowing machines, pull bush hogs etc etc etc all are different and a pull type wheel disk probabvly needs the longest hoses. Since they are fairly expensive, and you only wanna buy one set, better too long than short right?? I dont rememebr ever needing much more than 8 ft hoses in the old days when I used JD pull type implements to plow, disk, mow etc. The JD manual is probably written to cover JD Brand implements of the sizes rated to match that particular tractor, so to be safe, go with 8 or even 9 foot depending on what implements you pull. Theres no exact answer, you just have to consider whatever youre gonna pull and see how much hose is needed. Its safest to use the couplers that automatically disconnect in the event the implement dislodges from the tractor. (like some old fashion hook/clevis pull type cylinder lift plows) The soild direct plug in JD/Pioneer types that fit direct in the back of the Power Trol do not automatically disconnect. To use the disconnect types, you have to run short hoses out the side of the Power Trol and then the quick attach type couplers. As you know, you have to have the right plug in diverters in the rear of the Power Trol to make them feed remote couplers versus the rock shaft lift. Sorry if this is more than you wanted to know lol. Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana

John,Thanks for the reply and info that is exactly what I wanted to know, will be using J D hyd disc, 55H plow nd maybe a pull type mower. Was going to the Pioneer quick disconect, plumed off the side of Power Trol. got a diverter plug on order to dirvert from three point to quick disconect hoses. Was wondering if in the event that put live hyd on this tractor would I just use a tee at side of Power Trol to put pressure in Jack

Jack, About anything I ever used had those Pioneer Type Quick Couplers. Ive had them used with short hoses ran out the sides and also used pioneer type couplers that fit right in the regular rear plugs, but the rear ones I had werent the pull off types. How are you gonna put live hydraulic on that A ? The only live hydraulics add on Im familiar with is the one driven off the governor end (where the mag goes) and then the mag or distributor fits on its outside. Ive seen them used with Behlen after market power steering mostly. Ol John T

John, was going to put the poper pump behind the distrubter and plum it down like the book sayes. that is why I ask about the tee in the side of Power Trol, to put pressure into Power Trol. The quick disconects are coming out there also, will it work, if not what will have to do? Jack
