JD 4020 fair tire w/f diesel. has knock in engine have not seen yet.bout 9000 hrs.Is it worth 4000.00 or ust pass it by. I would imagine and engine rebuild would be pricey.Supposedly had the pto rebuilt already.
Should I just keep looking?
thanks

That knock in the engine could be from the hydraulic coupler. Had to replace my plastic bushings{4} last week, sounded just like an engine knock.

If you buy it and do the motor you know what you have, and you are not going on somones hearsay on the engine condition. Can you do the engine job yourself is the big question? A dealer will take the same tractor and rebuild the engine throw on a quik paint job and ask 9000 for it.

Jack 4020s are good tractors and hold their value it depends on what model also condition and if wide front/dual hyds. I would say if it is a console model 1969 or newer go for it the older models would have to be in nice shape for their age. Engine overhauls can be costly depends how deep you. good luck any questions email or call 502 222 9055 terry clubb lagrange ky.
