I thought some of y'all might be interested in the insides of an MT Ignition Switch. Does anyone know what the OHM reading should be for the resistor on the back of this switch?

The resitor should be 2.25 to 2.50 ohms.

Thanks. I knew it functions in the charging circuit, thus the ohm value is more critical than those required for resistors that merely dim the lights. I've got the one from the tractor and one from the junk yard and both read 2.4 OHMS. Looks like when I'm done I'll have two working switches.

On the M/MT switches, the resistor is to limit the field current for the generator for the low charge position. These tractors had no dim lights provision in the switch. Suggest get and read an owners manual. Believe it rather than some of the answers posted.

jp, can't see your picture. The resistor is just to dim the headlights so it really does it matter all that much exactly what the value is.

Thanks. The picture is on Parts & Pieces; don't know why it didn't post.
