Thanks for your in-depth replys on testing a generator / voltage reg. I too am having gen problems and was looking for some answers. for some reason my search turned up little on the subject. I know you guys sometimes feel like your beating a dead horse when you answer the same old questions but your answers are allways helpful. My question is im working on a IH td-15b [ I know it's a JD sight and I promise it's the only non-JD I have ] with a 24 Volt system, does the test you posted also work for me or do I need to change any of the steps ?
thanks again for your help AJM

AJM, Our answers below are for 6 or 12 volt, 2 or 3 brush, grounded, full voltage regulated systems and many of the 24 are 2 wire non grounded, so most of what we said does not apply. I would about need the wiring diagram of the tractor and charging system to help more on what you have. The kind we described are more generic for about any tractor, but those 24 volt systems are more particular. Sorry, Ol John T

AJM, probably not much in the charging system post below will apply to your IH 24V charging system. I don't know what type generator/regulator was used on the td-15b, so can't really help with a step by step test sequence. I won't guess at anything as that usually confuses more than helps.
~If you can furnish generator type, whether or not an isolated ground system, terminal markings on the regulator & generator & if possible a wire diagram, we can probably come up with a system check out procedure.
~You might want to try your question on the Crawlers or Farmall & IHC boards. You really need someone that has worked on that system before.....
