Scooter the John Deere 820/830 is a three cyl.Diesl engine approx. 32/34 HP.The tractor is made in Germany and a great little tractor,I currently own one pulled a 336 hay baler with an 18 ft, wagon behind baler(not on steep land),great tractor for small acreage. They will bring around 5500 to 7000 dollars and worth every penny of it. Garland

For a big tractor guy, Gman is absolutely correct on this one. The 820/830 have a Deere designed engines manufactrured at a Deere plant in Saran, France.

The model numbers on these true utility tractors are often confused with the model numbers on the compact utility tractors 850, 870 (made in Japan by Yanmar) and 855 (assembled in Horicon, WI and Augusta, GA) with lots of Japanese Yanmar components, including engines and transmissions.

G-MAN - sorry, they're not really compact utilities - just utilities

Yes, they're compact utilities with 3 cyl. engines. Not to be confused with the 820 and 830 two-cylinder diesel tractors. Two extremely different machines here.

I owned a 820, 3 cylinder once, and loved it. It was a great little tractor.
