Model 60 carb question

I'm having a problem with my late Model 60 not holding a low idle setting. I adjust the idle speed set screw to achieve a 600 rpm idle and the next day I can fire it up and it'll slow idle at 750 rpm. Very frustrating.
I just had a Deere tech out to rebuild the clutch and while there he set the individual meter(?) screws for each barrel. The tractor has never run smoother!
I checked the throttle shaft for looseness and there was none. The carb is tight against the intake manifold and the manifold is tight against the head.
Anything else I can check with the carb on the tractor or should I just "cut my losses" and have the carb re-built? I've heard Robert's in Spencer City, Iowa is quite good.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the tips, fellas; I'll try the suggestions and see what happens.
It is my understanding that a 60 should be set to slow idle at 600 revs. Is this correct?
Thanks again

Check throdle shaft if it is binding ,also the throdle plates that they are both even with set srew back out. Check if gov linkage is free and check if linkage between lever and gov has spring pressure on gov. It also could have a vacuum leak manifold or gaskets. Spray some carb cleaner around manifold.

Al, obviously something is changing day to day. Start by verifying the choke is actually working correctly [just because external linkage is working doesn't mean the choke plate is following suit].... Then verify that the carb control linkage from the governor to carb is adjusted correctly & not sticking or hanging up on anything....If you are sure you don't have any carb or manifold vacuum leaks [check with an unlit propane torch] you are left with the possibility of worn throttle plates, worn intake valve guides, plugged or plugging carb bowl vent, incorrect oil weight in the air cleaner, raw fuel in the crankcase getting pulled by the piston rings, improperly set heat valve, other internal carb problem, OR it might not be carburetor related at all & could be sticking advance weights in the distributor, loose ignition points, or other ignition related malfunction. Even the clutch engaged or disengaged can make a difference. About all you can do is go over everything that can have an effect on idle speed & engine load & verify those things are functioning correctly..... .

sounds like your governor linkage stop needs adjustment, so there is more pressure against the throttle in the idle position....without this your rpm would creep up and down....read the book on adjustment technique...doesn't sound like your idle jets at all because you can adjust them 1/2 turn or so without much difference...
