I have an unstyled B that doesnt have its serial number plate and im trying to narrow down the year it might be, the crank case cover has part number B52R could some one tell me at what serial number that cover was discontinued? Also does any one know if the numbers cast on to the transmission case in front of the clutch tell any thing on the date of the tractor? thank you.

In some cases, but not all the time, Deere used casting date codes, for instance one tag with "135" and another with "35" meant the part was cast the 135th day of 1935. I have seen them most ofter on the right side of the main case, and under the block. My friend has a 1935 B we are working on now that had a casting date under the block, about two weeks before the serial number register says it the tractor was built (put in inventory). I just got a 60 orchard home that has day "tags" on almost everything, and smaller year "tags" with only the number 6, and it is a 1956 model, so I assume thats where the 6 came from.

The B52R cover was discontinued at serial #10168 so your B is a 1935. If its not a 4 bolt the serial # should be between 3043-10168
