G head stud and nut questions

I am putting a flathead on my 51 G and have a few questions. The studs aren't going to be threaded back enough to tighten down with a flathead on it. A couple of people have told me to put my lead washers on first and then put how ever many flat washers I need, then put the nut on. What is going to keep the nuts from loosening up? I know the lead washer is to help torque it down and hold small amounts of water if it should get that far, but doesn't it help hold the nut a little since it compresses? Should I get another set of lead washers and put on the outside of the flat washers? Thanks for all of the help.

Brandon You will have to get a set of studs for a unstyled tractor, I don't think all the tricks you want to do and us your studs will work, Also you will have to shorten your push rods. Need to get all the information before attempting these project

To shorten the pushrods shouldn't I just have to have them shortened the difference of the thickness of the two heads? Thanks
