I have a 1940 "H" Ser. No. 11874. It doesn't have P.T.O., electrics or hydraulics. I finished a complete restoration, actually it was more of a remanufacture, in 1998. They're a neat little tractor, especially for farm boys who are transplanted to the city and don't have a lot of storage space. This one was on the cover of Green Magazine in Nov. 1998 and Nov. 2001.

You guys are givin me a fever! Wife saw one at a tractor show last fall, thought that might be the perfect size for her! Would like nice with my '35B. Need to get a differnet house with a better shop, plan on doing that this summer, so then I could go H huntin! Saw one at an auction this Sunday somewhere around the Quad Cities, have to go and look again.

I have a '39. If I run accross a '46 at a reasonable price and good condition I might get it. That was the year I was born.

Mine is a 1940. I've owned it since 1973 and farmed with it until 1997. It was pretty sad when I got it for $275, fenders were an extra $60 back then. Reground crank, all new bearings, bored out, new pistons, and a valve job, along with some other minor work put her in good shape. After 25 years of use I could find no measureable wear on any engine part, except the rings. I restored it in 1997-98 and showed it at Expo in Berrien Springs, MI. It is about the toughest, guttiest 13H.P. tractor you can find. I think it would drag a whole bunch of the new 20H.P. models all over the barnyard. I think I'll go out in the barn tonight and give her a hug.

Hal, Mine is a 41 H with lights, hydraulics, PTO, and hand start. Bought it on ebay in 2000 without a picture. (Boy was that a mistake!) Had to drive 1400 miles round trip to pick it up. It was rusty, no tires, and stuck. As of the beginning of this year I am about 70% done with the mechanics and have most all the needed parts purchased. My goal is to have her ready for this falls shows in central PA.

'39 model Ser.# 3929 Hand start. PTO equipped. No lights or hydraulics. Rough shape when I got it. Worked on it for 2 years before I got to drive it. Still have a lot to do before it's presentable.

Hi Gary,My little H was born December 12,1940-hand start and has a PTO.When I start her up,all she wants to do is strut around the yard like a bantam rooster. At our local show last year I let a youngster enter it in the hand crank contest and sure enough he won! Hope to have a H-1 plow for it some day. Have fun,Blaine

A '41 hand start here. Restored it two years ago and it runs great. Sounds good and looks good. Came with an integral plow that I need to get cleaned up (and welded in a couple spots) before spring garden needs plowing. With this warm Tx weather, that could be soon.

I have a 1940. Hand start, no lights, no hydraulics, no PTO. I also have a 200 series cultivator. Ran when I bought it, but have had the carb rebuilt by Robert's. Sheet metal was straight except near the cultvator mount. This is my first tractor.

I live in a nice subdivision in Peoria surrounded by Caterpillar engineers and marketing guys. They look at my H and ask where the engine is:-)

My dad was a 31 year Deere employee at the Des Moines Works. I worked for Deere for a while until they sold their insurance company. I developed and priced the extended warranties for all Deere's agricultural equipment. What a great job. Of course I could never complete my pricing work until I had a chance to drive the biggest and best of that particular line of equipment.

I bleed green for so many reasons.

I've got a 1941. Dad bought it about 1975. Actually he traded an old rocking chair for it. It has electric start and lights from the factory. He got it from the original owner. Up until last year, we used it every year to mow. It runs good. Needs rings. We live in Eastern Montana on the Yellowstone river.

I have a 1940, pretty decent sheet metal, but hardly any compression& a gear broken in tranny. I have most of the parts to fix it- another job for when I retire in a couple of years!

Hi Gary,

I have a 1941 H which my dad bought new. It has never left his small farm in central Pennsylvania. I moved back here a couple of years ago and got it running again. I used it last summer to cut about 20 acres of hay/weeds. It broke down a couple of times, but I received excellent advice from several people on this forum and have it running again. It is S/N 32790.
