Took apart a jd luc engine with low compression. Found deep pitting where piston was sitting. Is there a way other than boring out and oversize pistons to solve this. I was wondering of maybe a hardener being applied and then bored to original??? Any thoughts thanks.

If your pistons are reusable (not excessively worn)have it bored and sleeved back to original. Might save a few bucks and still a quality fix.

Ted, if the pitting is so deep honing alone wont clean it up, an overbore is what its gonna take. I doubt if any sort of filler will bond, withstand the friction, heat and pressure, and may just clog up piston ring grooves or proper ring expansion. Good Luck, Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana
