Should I have pressure on both ports? Upper hydraulic port with level pushed back and pressure on lower port with level pushed foward? Just rebuilt 45 loader rams. Are these rams designed to have raise and lower pressure. Fittings are plumber out the side of the power-trol and plugs in rear with plug in plug not allow fluid to fill rockshaft piston. Put gauge on lower port have 1700psi when brought back to neutral and lower port has 1700psi but when put in neutral reads 500psi. Is this normal. Thanks

Jack, if the loader cylinders have lines coming out each end of the cylinders & each main line is hooked to a different power-trol port it should have bi-directional operation.
~Your hook up & operation explanation is a little confusing so please try to explain exactly where each line is hooked up & what type of plugs you have in the power-trol. Are the power-trol plugs just plugs [open front ends] or are they remote plugs [closed front ends with pipe threads in the rear], or is one of the power-trol plugs actually a switchable selector valve?
~As a general rule those side ports are used for one way cylinder operation.
~If you can furnish a little more information on what you have we can probably get you up & operating.

I'm not sure where to fit this comment in.
Are those 45 loader rams actually one-way rams with hoses on each end? Somewhere I saw that they are plumed so the front half of the cylinder acts as an oil reservior, not for down pressure, because those early Deere power-trol systems do not have enough oil reservoir to handle large or multiple one-way cylinders.
When they are hooked up to work as a reservoir--as you raise the loader by pumping oil into the rear of the cylinder, the oil in the front of the cylinder is pushed back to the power-trol reservoir to keep the pump happy. I must have learned this from a 45 loader operators manual, but I no longer have the manual to double check this information.

Craig, some people hooked them us as you say on a one way system so the front half of the cylinder can act as reservoirs. I have seen many used as 2 way also.

The rams have ports at both ends. Plugs that are in the power-trol (front as end that goes into unit, and back end that you can see) top plug is has open front and closed rear, bottom plug has closed front and closed rear. Both plugs have cross holes that cross through plugs to side ports. Hooking both rear hoses from ram to upper port and both front hoses from ram to lower port. Had worked great for long time like this and started having problems a year ago. Tractor had bad hydraulic pump, installed different pump and seal went out, installed new seal, worked good but not great, got colder out and loader would lift very slow and drop. Took rams apart and one leather was shot and other was getting there. I think that this is ok now. Just wanted to know if the 60 is suppost to have raise and lower pressure or just raise? Thanks

Jack, the 60 has the capability of [remote] pressure in both directions but must have the closed front [or selector valves] in both upper & lower plug ports for that to happen. The exception is if an open front is used in the rock shaft pressure port, in that case the rock shaft cylinder will raise first then the loader will start to move. If there is an open front plug in the upper plug port there will be no down pressure [-down depends on the hand lever side, lever movement direction, & what hose is hooked to what end of the cylinders, & which way the cylinders move for raise & lower of the loader] because the down pressure will return to the sump instead of going to the loader cylinders. The problem arises from the fact that the rock shaft only has lift pressure, so when the lever is moved to the rock shaft drop mode oil just returns to the sump with no hydraulic pressure applied to drop side of the system... The rockshaft drop side [return to sump] must be blocked to get pressure to the lower [pressure down] side of the remote system..I know this is confusing so post back with questions..
