Idle screw turns by itself.

I have a 1946 B. The idle screw turns by it's self. When turning the screw, no clicking is felt as I turn it.

The load screw clicks. I had the neighborhood mechanic work on the carburetor and I think he lost whatever locks the screw in place. What am I missing and where do I get the piece.

Thanks for any input.

Mine did that because the small steel detent ball with the spring behind it that clicks up against the knurls in the idle needle top had fallen out. You may be able to purchase the spring and detent ball from Robert Beaver's web site Link Ol John T Nordhof in Indiana

B popper, the friction ball is either missing or stuck in the bore or the spring is weak or broken. Not the easiest to replace, but can be done with some patience. Roberts Carb [Phone: (712) 262-5311] has the spring & ball.. [R10175 Friction Spring,,R10038 Friction Ball]
