Now that winter has come again to New Hampshire, I am thinking of replacing the engine heater that is in the lower radiator hose on my 420U with one in the block. There is a freeze(welch) plug on the right side of the block behind the distributor that I have in mind. Is there room inside of there for the coil of a block heater? Does anyone know the part number or where to get one? The radiator hose heater doesn't work well as the water won't circulate from ther to bhe block.

Thanks, Cpeter

Put a heater on my 430T last winter. I couldn't make a soft plug heater work so used a Zero Start tank heater from Carquest. Remove the engine block drain plug under the carburetor and installed a brass tee straight out to heater hose that will run to heater. Then install a 45 degree brass elbow in side of tee for the block drain plug. Then run heater hose from top of heater up to a brass tee installed in the bypass hose that connects the thermostat houseing to water pump.
