Excessive oil is blowing out the exhaust pipe. We have checked rings, rings are okay. Checked the head, and still have this problem. Any suggestions?

Tired injectors or pump(s) will also blow soot mixed with unburned liquid fuel out the stack. Looks just like used diesel crankcase oil.

Larry...any chance you had water in the air filter oil cup that has frozen and is restricting normal air flow. Neighbor had that happen on an AR that sat outside during the wet summer and took on water through the precleaner pipe. Made a mess of the tractor and the inside of his garage when he started it this winter at about 15 degrees.Black oil dripping everywhere, including the garage ceiling.

Every 2-cylinder with a open air inlet is vulnerable to Mud-Dauber nests in the intake tube....You will NEVER know they are there, until it get's 90% plugged, and they start pulling oil out of the crankcase, and into the intake.. Run a piece of heater hose up the aircleaner, up to the top, and see if a bunch of mud-clumps fall out...!!!!! Everyone should be covering the air inlets, when they are not in use, to prevent this.... Maybe a foam filter would be a good permenent cure...around the inlet vents...???

Larry: Are you sure it is engine oil and not unburned fuel? Those 820's & 830's will slobber a lot of fuel out of the exhaust if you let them run cold and if they haven't been worked hard for a while. If you work it hard for a while and it still blows oil and/or fuel out of the exhaust then I would be concerned, but for now put it to work.

Larry, check the intake valve guides. You should also check the air cleaner, & air intake tract for restrictions. If the intake is restricted it will pull oil by the intake valve guides & rings. Make sure the crankcase breather isn't plugged also, if the crankcase pressurizes it will push oil into the engine combustion process..
