420 Thermostat

Does anyone know what size thermostat goes in a 420? I need to know the size so I can replace mine with a new 195� unit and want to get the new one before I get it apart. The local auto parts store wasn't much help as far as a listing goes.

You can order one through your John Deere dealer. I can give you a part number from the JD model 420/430 parts manual if you would like.

CPeter, NAPA # 170 is the part number for the 180 degree. I buy mine at Carquest in any degree you want , but can't remember the part number. I think it is the same as for an old model 350 Chevy. Also, the 420 would have came with a 160 degree. I tried a 195 in my 420 LP tractor and it would overheat, had to go back to the 160.
