Bob, I bought a PTO for my 47 D. After removing the cover plate on the rear of the transmission, it slid in and engaged with the drive gear that was already there. Make sure you get the operating rod and lever with your purchase.

Bob, that isn't a hard installation as the splined shaft in the trans should already have the extended PTO splined end on it now. [that means the trans won't have to come apart]
~The best way is to find a complete unit from another "D" & just swap the complete unit including the housing that goes on the L/H side of the trans & the lever. ~Unless you really want or need that PTO to power something, go climb on a "D" with a PTO on it see if the incontinence of having that PTO in your way is worth it. Personally I prefer the extra foot room without one..... ...

Clooney, you've already made my day and so early in the morning. Thanks. It's nice to start out with a gool laugh. I've never heard of a tractor having "incontinence." It's probably just stiff and cold fingers that hit the "t" rather than the "v."

Leon, that's what happens when you spend a day with the relatives, you lose the ability to tell a [t] from a [v]. I have been having trouble with the [T, Y, & U] on the key board of my shop computer, but those two letters are too far apart to blame on that..
