I am replacing the radiator in the '51 A. The coolant pipe is coated with a brown rust film. I am wondering if this material will plug the new radiator core. What solvent can be used to clean the cooling system?

Thanks,

Herb

If the coating is stuck on tight it probably will stay there.
When I had my 1950 B apart I sandblasted the insides of the pipes clean. However that uncovered all the pin holes in the upper steel pipe. I was going to patch it up but instead found a piece of that difficult-to-find diameter pipe and made a new pipe. It happened to be twice the thickness of the original and I figure if the original lasted 50 years, my new thicker pipe should last 100 years.
