Got a 36 A hand start, and today i was rolling the engine over just to turn it a little, left the comp. releases closed. When rolling the flywheel when piston comes up it bounces back like it is supposed to,but if you hold a good bind on it for a little while [ 20 seconds or so]and keep pulling on it, it will eventually go on over. Is this normal or do i have a leak. It has been rebuilt, head also, and high comp pistons. Thanks for any help, ken.

Ken, you have a little leakage in either the rings or valves. Not a big deal on a 2-cylinder Deere, especially if the tractor is cold & has been setting for a while. Those big cylinders use fairly large ring end gaps & if there is any wear in top part of the bore they get even bigger. Do the same test with a hot engine & if you still have significant leakage, run a leak-down test on it by putting compressed in each cylinder with the valves closed. Where the air comes out & how much comes out will tell the story...

Thanks Clooney, it was a cold engine, and not run in a couple of weeks. It was bored so it should not be cylinder wear. Probably has'nt been run over 4 or 5 hours since rebuild, don't know if that would matter or not. Thanks again, ken.
