What is the trouble with the new 8000 series? it seems that every dealer has a burned one waiting to go to salvage. I am looking at a 8110 and would like to know if there is a problem. Thanx

Sounds like a lack of maintenance allowing trash to build up and cause fires, such as cornstalks around the rear tires and such. We service well in excess of 100 8000 series tractors from early ones up to 8020s and we haven't had one burn in the two and a half years I've been here.

There seems to be a problem with the wiring in the 8000 series. Quite a few cab fires but no one wants to say much about it. Why is that?

Like I posted before, I'm not aware of any wiring problems in 8000 series tractors that lead to cab fires. The cab wiring is very well protected with fuses, breakers and the like. Most of the electronic controllers and sensors are operating on 5 volts or less and milliamps of current, so there is little chance of fires there. We work on in excess of 100 8000s on a regular basis (90% of our tractor business is row-crop tractors 150 hp and up and there are six 8000s sitting in the shop right now), and we haven't had a cab fire in the two and a half years I've been here, nor have I heard of any that happened before I was here. Our 8000 customer base covers everything from early ones up to the seven or so 8000 Twenty Series tractors we've sold. The only 8000 I have heard of burning up in these parts was one of the first 8000T tractors that was out on demo. Cornstalks and trash built up around the tracks and caught fire due to friction, which burned the whole tractor to the ground. I'm not saying there haven't been any 8000 have cab fires, just that we haven't seen any. And based on the number of 8000s we have in our territory, it stands to reason that a few would have burned by now if there was a problem.

Not an unusual problem around here. The only fires I've heard of were caused by bird nests ingniting next to hot exaust systems under the hood. In spring look for this, daily!!!!!
