Clooney...Sorry I missed your first post about the man with stuck pistons in his 60. I did see your post on Dec 14/02. What I want to Know is how much kerosene do you put in ? How long a burn time would it be? Did David do the correct proceedure?..... . MANY THANKS

Hi Steve,

I'm trying that trick myself. I won't know how it works until I go out next weekend for burn #2.

A link to my pictures is listed below:

Steve, I use diesel instead of kerosene but anything that will burn will work, [diesel seems to burn the hottest / longest]. The amount & burn time depends on how far down the bores the pistons are [the farther down the bore the better the burning process works], & how hard they are stuck.
~Deere's seem to work the best as the pistons usually stop down the bore a ways.
~You can use any amount of fuel you want or just use a 1/2"-1" or so & if they won't move, do a second burn. I like to use 1/2"-1" & let the bores cool in between burns with diesel added while still warm to soak down along the pistons during the cooling process.[usually takes 2-3 burns on severely stuck pistons]
~It looks like David did it correctly as the piston came out.
