I purchased one of those "Rebuild" videos from Green Mag. for about $24. I think the guys in the vidio were rejects from "Saturday Night Live". The one who talked was semi-informative but they were very crude on techniques. I know hammer mechanics that use more tools and better disassembly/assembly proceedures then these guys. My suggestion is to buy yourself a service manual and talk to the guys who have done John Deere rebuilds . There are a lot of people out there who are willing to share information for no cost. This board has been more help to me and many others then any vidio.

Ben, If your talking about the ones made by "JD Productions" as far as i am concerned they are absolute rubbish! My wife bought one for me a few years back, it was on the overhaul of an late styled B tractor. I took it back to the store where it had come from and demanded they refund the purchase price, the manager said "well you have opened the package and viewed the tape" and i replied "thats correct- why don't you take it home view it your self and see it it's somethink you want to sell in your store", unhappy he gave us our money back along with a little crap and later i found out a least one other customer went thru the same thing. Your best option would be to buy whatever manuals(operator, parts and service you can get from JD) and make your own video of your progress. My 2-cents and more. Have a great John Deere day. gwh
