Anyone have any suggestions about how to clean the scale and crud out of the cooling system. I am tearing the tractor down so most parts will be disasembled as I restore. Am just having a hard time getting the old rust and junk off the inside of the parts. Also looking for a good source for gauges. I broke the probe off the temp gauge and expect the oil pressure gauge to do the same.

Forgot to clairify an "automotive machine shop" to get your engine parts cleaned.

The best way to clean the cylinder, head, pipes, and radiator tanks would be to take them to a machine shop. I can't remember exactly what they do, but they can clean your engine parts very well and it shouldn't cost too much.(I think it involves chemicals and an oven) You could probably do some of it yourself with a sand blaster. Maybe even all of it, except for the rad core. If you are going to reuse the radiator core, I would take it to a radiator shop, and have them clean that for you.

I bought a set of white face gauges from Antique Gauges Inc. (410)-822-4963 They are not exactly like the ones that came off. But they are very close and the best I could find. They are made very well, and the people are nice to deal with.
They should have a add in Green Magazine or Antique Power.

Take radator apart then take flat stock that fits down the cores or tubes, where the water flows. Becarefull so you do not poke a hole in tube. The oil line can be replaced it will not hurt gauge.Blow it out with air or water or take it some place to have it boiled out.The radator core mite be bad to start with.
