Can some of you experienced guys give me an idea of how much diesel fuel a 730 will burn?

Dad bought a new on in 1959 and we farmed with it for about 10-12 years. Best I can recall is that it used about 2 gallons per hour under heavy load. Quite efficient.

That depends on what you're going to be doing with it, but Deere two-cylinder diesels have always been among the most fuel-efficient tractors ever built. The low speeds, long strokes and large bores readily lend themselves to high efficiency when burning diesel fuel. I believe that 730s produced somewhere around 17-18 horsepower-hours per gallon, which is excellent fuel economy for the amount of horsepower they produce.
