Flywheel Ring Gear

I went to my John Deere Dealer inquiring about a flywheel ring gear for my "B" part number B 1607 R. He stated that it was no longer available from Deere. Any suggestions on where to find one or is my dealer not looking hard enough. Yes it has been turned over once, the power block that was once in the tractor was not kind to the starter or ring gear.

You might have your dealer do a search and see if a dealer might have a NOS gear somewhere. Failing that, a good used one might be your only alternative. Even if it isn't in the best shape, you could turn it over and grind a chamfer on the other side of the teeth to make it work.
