I was checking my oil press today with a universal gauge. The engine was cool, outside temp was about 60 F, and I was reading only 10 to 12 psi at fast idle. Is this normal? The original gauge was always above the "M" at idle. Cold fast idle it was almost to the "H" mark.

Is there a way to "bump up" the oil pressure in the engine? Or is this all it needs?

I am still waiting for my shop manual to come in the mail!...MH

10-15 is what is called for at warm idle. If you want more, which I would not probably, you should be able to adjust it if it's like my 49B. Check your manual to see how to do it if not let me know. The adjustment is down beside your oil level check plug. You loosen the locking jam nut and adjust clockwise for more pressure. I believe they say NOT to do this with it running, but I would have to check my book to confirm.

Thanks for the help Jim. I found the adjuster. Hopefully I will get my manual in the mail soon.
