I thought my B broke a rod or wrist pin. When I took it of to fix the cam shaft wasn't moving and when I drained the oil there where studs on the bottom of the crankcase. Can I raplce the bolts easily without total disasembly?

Murf when you go back with cam gear be sure you put a locking plate to secure the three studs or bolts. On "G"'s I've found the bolts loose and gear wobbling on shaft but the locking plate was holding the nuts.I got a thiry-eight B that's giving me fits trying to get in time so I'll leave that to fellows such as Clooney, this B has gave me a complex for giving out assistance in timing a B I just wanted to remind you about the locking plate. Murf, depends of whether you can get the broken pieces out of the cam without pulling the cam & if the gear holes are torn up .

Is this an odd occurance and will it have to be timed differently?

Murf, I can't say it doesn't happen but you don't see it too often. You won't have to time it differently but will have to line the timing marks back up as that gear could be anywhere now. You will also have to line the governor back up as the mag or distributor is driven by the cam gear to the governor gear & those must be timed correctly for the ignition to work.
~If you haven't done anything down these lines on a 2-cylinder Deere before you really should get a manual [at least an I&T] as there are many mistakes that can be made, & with the price of parts on the old Deere's a manual could save you well more than it's cost.
~You should start by pulling the crankcase cover & looking in there to see if you can determine what is broken & what needs to be done.....

I pulled the cover and the holes on the gear are not worn. One stud was completely gone and the other two are broke in the gear by removing the left bearing I can get at the two by removing the fly.. My I&T manual doesn't show the bolts how long were they
