We were talking about building a 4020 gas to pull, but we really dont know to much about the gas. Are they good, easy to build motors? Will the block withstand high RPM's and about how much hp power can you get from one. Thanks

The thing about the Gas powered 4020's is that while they can be fixed to pull, after you do so they won't be suitable to farm with. Too expensive to feed. Modifications to the carborator, to increase fuel suppley, shaving the head to increase conpression ratio's, electronic ignition, increasing duration on your cam, I mean the list can go on and on, but you've got to decide what you want, and how much you want to put into it. I only increased RPM's to around 3,000 on my tractor, but a neighbor of mine, has ran his over 4,000 without any ill results. He had to change to a stiffer valve springs, and I know he has rebuilt the whole motor, with all the proper fitting bearings, but it seems to do well, with no serging. Gassers can make power, but you'll never get low end lug, and in the end you will have to spend money on expensive high octain gas to make it not detinate. But then again parts aren't bad, and a very good motor can be built for far less than a diesel. I'll talk to my friend tonight and get an Idea of what he spent, and all the modifications he made. Later, Greg H.
