I'm going to ask on each forum to see if someone out there has any knowledge of flat belt repair. I'm talking about the belt used to connect a belt pulley on a tractor to a machine like a thresher or a sheller or a baker fan. I have a few old belts and they all need repair. The layers, laminations are seperating and need to be bonded back together. I've asked around over the years and have come up empty handed except for one old gentleman that said he'd heard of a glue called "goat skin" that was made for that type of repair. Any help would be appreciated!

It took me a day to remember what we used. Look for some canvas glue. It will come in a tube, like gasket sealant. We used it on our belts. Also used it on my camper canvases. We use allot of belt power on our farm.

I'd be tempted to try some automotive weatherstrip adhesive. It sticks like the dickens if you use it right, and stays flexible.

Never heard of a baker fan before. For what is it used?

Bob a baker fan is a four blade rotary fan, that operates on a horizontal shaft with a pulley of to the side the faster you turn it the more resitance that is created. A.D. Baker invented it to test his engines before they whent to there customers.

go to JD dealer that sells round balers they will stock baler lacing (heavy duty type) and should be able to repair your belts, I repaired a 100 ft. endless drive belt with this type of lacing about 4 years ago and is used every year at our show for belting up to the bakkers fan works excellent

The only repair I have seen done is with a belt repair tool. Anyone that makes belts for a round baler will have one of these. I had them make one for my belt driven front end loader for my Model A.. Russ

The only repair I have seen done was to replace the end splices. Haven't ever seen laminations repaired.
