Hey guys, I am coming over from the farmall page. Please don't shun me because we have a 4650, 4640, 4430, and 4440 on the farm. I just find farmalls are cheaper to rebuild and hey I only carry them to shows, they don't have to do any work. I am helping a friend of mine rebuild a B that is I think a 48 model. It does not have the pressed steel frame. He needs the front grills for both sides. His is completely rusted through. If anyone had any suggestions where we could find a good set worth the money I would appreciate it.

47-52 Bs all had pressed frame. Don't know if 39-46 grills will fit or not.

Parts catalog PC-330 lists the screens and grills as being the same for all styled B's (S/N 60,000 an up).

The recently posted picture of the '49 B refurbished (I can't use the term restored, - caught heck for that,) by the 18yr old had the same problem. He found a pair at a swap for $50. They were pretty rusted, so he sandblasted them, used body filler to smooth out the pits. Parts of the screens were salvaged from the old grilles, and pop-rivited in to the "new" ones. Rivets on the inside, out of sight. A Dremmel tool with an abrasive cutting disk makes quick work of cutting the screen panels.

AGR538:

Just took a look through Green Magazine for grills.

If it's just the grill screens that are rusted through, several places are selling them now at around $14 per side, with some at $50 per side (I see Richard Duane has them pre-bent for $140/set).

If it's the actual grill shell that's bad, I think Wilson Farms is one repro source. Not sure of his price, but on a "B" I'd bet when you find them in reproduction they'd go for upwards of $200 each (I know the repops for "H"'s are dear).
