There is this guy that has tractors down the road. He has a John Deere "R" and a "G" for the pair he wants $9000.They are both restored and running great. Is this to much? Should i have him throw in another tractor for the deal? Thanks

That depends on what he considers "restored". To some it is nothing more than a cosmetic facelift -new paint, tires and the like. To some (myself included), it's a complete or near-complete disassembly, with all worn parts being replaced or reconditioned. The fact that they run good doesn't necessarily mean that they're in top condition mechanically. I would be interested in what he's done and seeing any receipts for what he says he's done. You're not going to be able to buy and restore to good condition an "R" and "G" in rough shape for $9000, but you might be able to find them in good mechanical condition and do the cosmetic work yourself for around that price.
He's named his price, and now you're going to have to weigh all the factors and determine if they're worth that much to you. If they are in good to excellent condition from stem to stern, have a good paint job and good tires, are pretty much leak-free (all tractors will likely leak a small amount of something somewhere if used - even brand new ones), and everything works and works correctly, it would probably be an excellent deal. Just make sure they're up to the standards you would shoot for if you were doing the restorations.

You have to use a little common sense,if they were
restored from end to end they would probably be
$9000 each.I to agree restored doesn't mean
anything,(look at ebay),but most collectors I've
seen are looking for somone to take advantage
of,or find a nice tractor and someone who doesn't
know the market.
