I am looking for some information about the fan shaft for a model G John Deere. The fan shaft on the JD G I have looks like it has been worked on by someone sometime in its life. The shaft is a hollow tube with what looks like the ends welded on the ends of the tube. The spline end where the fan mounts is less than 1/16th" away from the radiator core. Fan belt can not be changed without removing the radiator, On the govenor end the gear was welded to the shaft. I am sure I will need to find a new shaft I am told by a parts individual at a JD dealership Said the part number for the fan shaft from a JD A serial # 47700 and up is the same as that of a G Is this true? Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Gerald A parts swapping to a "G" I'd be careful,I messed around with a lot of "G"s' and haven't seen to many A parts. You should be able to find a fanshaft assembly here on the board classified ads , or in Green Magazine. Gman
