Hey guys,
What type coolant heaters do you like? What works best? I have had diesels for some time but have never installed one, I have a coupel of the external tank types that I bought awhile back. I have been more leaning towards the lower rad. hose heater. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Gary

Gary I use the freeze plug heater in my '71 J.D. 4000,I got a 1500 watt tank heater on it also ,but I'm sort afraid to use it unless I'm close by,the darn thing gets to hot afraid I'll burn barn down and tractor with it.I put all the heaters on a heavy duty timers. GR

Gary, I use a screw in block heater in my Case diesel 580 CK TLB. The thing does a good job heating the block for those cold winter start ups. I like it better then an oil pan heater as it doesnt "burn" the oil. One thing for all coolent heaters, do not start the engine while they are plugged in. The sudden coolent flow caused by the water pump can create a lack of fluid around the element and it will burn out. (like a home hot water heater)
