when in gear wit throttle half open, the foward motion and the belt pulley will stop cold. the engine will not stop or slow, almost like the pulley brake is thrown. i can't pull heavy loads or even get up a hill, i just want to be able to plow some snow or my garden, not anything heavy. it only does this without warming up for 30-40 minutes first. then will only slow way down when going up a small hill here on the farm. any help please

Don, it sure sounds like your clutch is slipping. Remove the pulley cover & tighten the 3 nuts about a half a turn each & see if it pulls better. If that helps, tighten each nut 1 flat at a time until it snaps in with a solid snap. If you get to the point you can't engage it, back the nuts up 1 flat at a time until you can.
~If the clutch is oil soaked or the disks are broken it's time to replace the clutch disks & repair the oil leak....
