Got my crank turned today, rod journals, main journals were within specs.Local parts place says he can't get main bearings.Question being can the old bearings be put back in housing and be honed out to get back smooth at a machine shop, or need to keep looking for new bearings. This is on a 52 G model tractor. It has shims on main caps. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks Ken.

Ken, I guess I don't understand, if your crank was within specs why did you have it turned? How much did they take off the journals? If you tell us how much was machined off maybe we can tell you if the original bearings can be resized to work with your re-ground crank. If by turned you just mean measured let us know.
~ We also have to know approximately how much wear is on the bearings & how many shims are still in them..

Sorry i did'nt make it clearer. The main journals were what he called just polished a little to get it clean. It had been sitting up for 15 to 20 years and had some surface rust on it.The old bearings looked good except for some rust patches from the crank. I'll have to count the shims and get back to you. Just wondering if they could be made to reuse are better off looking for new ones. I'll get the measurements and shim count and report back. Thanks Ken.

I have a set of new John Deere mains for both sides. Would take $115.00 plus UPS for the pair.
