Can't Get Sediment Bowl Fuel Valve to Stop Flow

I've got a gas-only 48 A. The sediment bowl has a two-way valve at the top for shutting off the fuel. Well, the fuel still seeps thru with the valve in the 'closed' position. I'd like to be able to have this valve give a positive seal when closed. Can I do something with the current valve or should I look for something new? Does Deere carry a good replacement or are there other places that can provide one? Something has got to be out there that provides a better seal but still looks somewhat original.

I purchased an on/off gas valve at NAPA and installed it down by the carb. Screwed it into the carb and the fuel line into the valve. Works fine. Cost a couple of bucks.

I gave up on that two way valve many years ago. Try to get one at your local NAPA dealer. They are cheaper, and will work just as well and the customer service wants to help you rather than just get you out of the store with your older equipment.

If you're suggesting that JD isn't interesting in helping owners of antique equipment, that isn't true for ALL Deere dealerships. The parts guys at my local JD dealer have been very helpful to me.
