I have a 52 8N that I need to trade up to something bigger this spring. I am mainly looking for more power, live PTO, power steering, and reliability. I have looked at the MF/MH 50 as a start. Can someone suggest a compairable tractor in the JD line? I hope to trade my Ford for something bigger without spending a whole lot more money. (it seems that the 8N's still keep their value up there for what they can do) I am interested in a working tractor, not a show piece. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am a JD person but keep a 1955 Allis Chalmers WD45 to do the work around the place with. It has everything that you desire and is a 40 or 45 hp tractor. If your 8-N is in good shape you should almost be able to trade even. Mine is not for sale but there are some out there. I think you would be more than happy with an AC.

Dave, I'm not knocking the WDs I hear they're really good machines, but why would you say he'd be happier with one? They don't have real live pto do they? I'm just currious as to why you say that.

There are many tractors out there that would fit the bill for this man but I think the WD/WD45 is a good fit for him. They do have live power takeoff.
He didn't want to spend a lot of money. Take the money thing out and I have other reccomendations.
I did not say he would be "happier" I said he would be "Happy" with the Allis.

My sister is running a small vineyard and traded two 8N's for one used JD 1070 with front wheel assist and thought she's died and gone to heaven.
