I have 2 late model B's, with delco dist, that will miss cold 30 degrees <. I believe that it is the #2 cylinder. It seems like they are flooding out and will not clear up. The manifold hasn't started to ice up at this point. The ingition and carb is in good shape. If new plugs are installed it will be good for awhile, then will act up again. I am using AC C87, anybody had better luck with any other kinds in cold weather.

Jack, if you read some of the posts below, you will see my thoughts on the subject of how not running the tractors at temperature and under light loads does contribute to premature plug fouling, which a hotter range does help, and I have my best luck with Autolite 388 in that situation in a B. The Delco distributors do a good job provided your points are clean and free of contamination and build ups and not pitted. From the problem you described, my advice would be to maybe try your carbs adjustments both in just a tad leaner, install new Autolite 388's, and as clooney suggested, be sure the wires are good and the cap is clean, free of moisture and carbon paths. Good Luck and let us know how she does. Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana

JD JACK, you can go one step hotter for the winter. Try C-88L or Champion D-23 or even Autolite 388. I run D-23 in my old work B with 2 plug gaskets under the plugs to raise the heat range a little more. I tried 388 but had problems with them fueling out during cranking in real cold weather. Make sure the wires are good [non-TVRS] with no insulation breaks [poor plug wire insulation will cause a cold miss until they warm enough to burn the moisture off.
~You could also have a cap or rotor problem causing a cross fire until warm.
