I have a Model A which I was told is the high compression model. Did they come with a choice of compressions or were they all the same?

Model 60 LP pistons fit right into a late A. Just make certain the block and head surfaces are flat and all fasteners are sound on a late A or any 60 no matter what the compression ratio.

Some of the "A's" had "high altitude" pistons that compressed the mixture more than normal. I put them in mine to increase the horsepower, however slightly.

Kenny,

The late model gas burners came with about 6:1 compression ratios and the all fuel or kerosene burners were about 4.5:1 from the factory.

The early A's had 309 cu. in. engines instead of 321 cu inches of the later models.

Someone could also be talking about an aftermarket hot rodding kit, but chances are they're saying yours is a gas (single tank) instead of an all fuel (large kerosene and small gas tank).
