Can I remove the hood/tank from my 36B by dropping the muffler, removing the air stack and going back and then to the pulley side without removing the steering shaft? Or do I have to remove the steering shaft and go up? If both are possible which is best to avoid "scars"? I can get by on Hs but Bs are new to me. Thanks HMan

Why wouldnt you pull the steering rod its simple pull the wheel take off the two bolts on the steering bolster and you got it just watch the bearings.

I always peel the paint off the steering shaft, just thought there might be another way on the 36BN. Thanks, HMan

Hi again H Man, I did mine straight from the top down with the steering shaft removed and didnt scar anything. I have the gas tank bottoms pipe threads all chased out and super clean and used thread tape on the sediment bowl threads and she dont leak there. One of the harder thigns Ive found to seal are those 3 way valves. Good Luck, Ol John T Nordhoff
