Today I took my 35 D head to a machinest to get it magnafluxed. I was having problems with water getting in my left cylinder. He found small hairline cracks near both exhaust valve seats. These cracks are not visible without using magnaflux.

Do I have any options besides finding another head? What about cost? Can this head be repaired? Any suggestions as to where to find another head?

Cheg,
I had a similar crack in the head on my 48 D. We plugged the crack with tapered cast iron tapped plugs, ground everything smooth, re-machined the seat opening. It held for three years
, but finally the crack spread down into the intake port. Finally had to get a different head from Shorty Dear. Sure mis him, he was a good man and honest to a fault. This was on a tractor that is still being used. Maybe if you only show it and don't work it so it really gets hot, you'll be OK. Repaired a crack in my 41 A the same way 15 years ago and never had a problem.

Cheg, had the same cracks under an H valve seat. Took it to a machine shop that repairs heads and they removed the seat, welded the crack after getting the head real hot, then they machined the seat and installed a new seat. The head has been in operation for about 7 years without any leaks. Don't remember the cost.
