Hello,

Im trying to find distributer springs for my 46-A that are just a little bit stonger than the ones you get from Deere. I need to have the advance curve come down a little sooner as the rpm's start to decrease on the engine. Ive tryed many automotive stores but all are either too long or too stiff. Ive even tryed springs off of a 620 but they are too long too. Any suggestions would be very much appreiciated.

As always...Thank You.

Try Springs from a different Delco distributor (different than the 620 springs you already checked). I have a 4 cylinder Delco distributor here that I am taking parts off of it to fix a 2 cylinder distributor that was in a fire. There are many common parts between the two. However the springs and advance weights and cam are different due to the different advance curve requirements, but the parts will interchange if one wanted to create their own curve. The springs in this 4 cyl unit are stiffer than in the two cylinder one. Same dimensions otherwise as what you want.

Dave, you can try a distributor shop.
~You can add a little weight to the weights or maybe remove a loop from the spring end & re-bend a new loop.
~Maybe drill & tap a hole near the outer ends of the weights & add screws with washers [you can add or subtract washers to tune it]
